Manukan Island: Taiwanese snorkeler drowns

Kota Kinabalu: A Taiwanese man drowned while snorkeling in the waters off Manukan Island, near here yesterday.Marine Operations Force officer ASP Mohd Aris Jambul, when contacted, said Hsieh Ming Sung, 33, was among 24 tourists who arrived at the island around 10.50am.
"While they were snorkeling, one of his friends saw his lifeless body floating about 110 metres from the beach," Mohd Aris said.
"They immediately informed the island guards who plucked the victim from the water and performed cardiopulmonary resuscitation on him while rushing him to Sutera Harbour here," he said.
The victim was taken to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital but was pronounced dead on arrival, he said, adding that an autopsy revealed the cause of death was drowning.
