Kota Kinabalu:

After Mandy Nandu, another Sabahan beauty Appey Rowenna Januin, 19, was crowned as the new Miss Malaysia Earth 2010 held at the Royal Golf Club Ipoh, Perak on July 18.
Appey, who was also state Unduk Ngadau 2009, will represent Malaysia in the Miss Earth 2010 pageant in Nha Trang Vietnam in October.
"I did not expect to win this beauty pageant because all the contestants were beautiful and well trained.
"I am happy winning the title and thanks to Mandy Nandu who taught me many things, beginning at state level until this stage, said Appey, who spoke in fluent English, Malay and Kadazan.
According to Appey when contacted by The Borneo Post through the phone yesterday, she learned many things, especially during the adventure activities while staying at the resorts in Taiping.
"The resorts are surrounded by green nature, a secondary forest and waterfalls. We got the chance to study nature.
"During the pageant week we also did tree planting, painted a railway station, visited a charcoal factory, a water factory and visited an orphanage home," said Appey who is currently studying at the Asian Tourism Institute (ATI) College.
