To reach the Headhunter's Trail you will fly into the Mulu National Park and stay overnight in the luxury of the Royal Mulu Resort. The trail begins with a tour of the incredible caves that Mulu Park is famous for: the Deer, Lang, Clearwater and Wind Caves. On the second day the trekking begins, following an ancient trail once used as a war path by the indigenous Kayan people, a group of fierce warriors from a broad ethnic group known as the Orang Ulu. Other tribes living in the vicinity of this trail were regular victims of headhunting by the Kayan and many of the older Kayans still bear the tattoos as symbols of the heads they had taken. The trek passes by the renowned Gunung Api Pinnacles and includes longhouse stays, river crossings and jungle camping.
