A Gentle Mix of Everything

Capital and main gateway to Borneo, Kota Kinabalu, is a small and charming city with much to see and experience. Kota Kinabalu museum gives great overview of North Borneo and is the perfect introduction to this region. The Wildlife Park allows you to see a vast array of the bizarre and beautiful creatures that inhabit Borneo, whilst the living Head Hunter's Village allows a brief glimpse at the life of the most dominant tribe in Sabah, the Kadazan.

The Kuilu River is a gentle and very beautiful river, rafting down her is a great way to experience the jungle. Then up to the Cocker range, the large mountain range that includes Kinabalu park, a world heritage site, and Poring Hot Springs. Any aches from the canopy walkways and paths through the cool oak and chestnut forest can be soothed in the hot spring baths afterwards.

Back in town and the Gaya Street market on Sunday shows some of the many handcrafts, clothes, pets and customs of Sabah, some quite unusual! 10 minutes from Kota Kinabalu is the Marine Park, a great place to catch some sun, swim, snorkel or dive on the reefs or try some of the many other activities on offer there.
